A medieval building with local history and changing collections in the heart of Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, housed in a 12th century building with examples of Norman and Tudor architecture. Previously used as a gaol, police station, bridewell and parcel sorting office, it has been a museum for over 100 years.
Featuring collections and history from the town and Abbey, William Corder and the Red Barn murder, witchcraft and superstition, the Suffolk Regiment, clocks and time pieces, fine art and social history.
Fully accessible with lift, toilets etc. Open daily 10am to 5pm (last admittance 4pm), charges apply. Daily tours of the building available 2pm Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday. Group visits welcome at any time. Contact below for full details and prices.
