Circling the Abbey

Circling the Abbey

The powerful and famous abbey was the focus of life in Bury St Edmunds for 500 years

It drew to its gates supporting trades, activities and all classes of people, from the prince to the pauper.

We trace the boundary of the abbey and bring into sharp focus life on the margins of this once great complex.

Circling the Abbey runs on Thursdays, from April to October. Tours start on Angel Hill, opposite the Abbey Gate, at 11.00am, and last 90 minutes. They are in English and are suitable for all ages and abilities.

Adults £7.50, U-18s £4, U-5s free, Family of four (max 2 adults) £20.

Tickets must be booked online in advance.

We’ve prepared some Covid-19 Safety Guidelines for you to read before you join us, and you should also read our Cancellation Policy. We look forward to welcoming you!
