Join us as we re-live the momentous days in the First World War when the men of the town for the first time were being conscripted to serve their country. We will see where they lived or worked, and the dramatic effect on their lives and loved ones. War not only brings tragedy, but also moments of humour and the downright ridiculous.

This 90 minute walking tour draws upon a unique set of surviving records housed in Suffolk Archives and is one of our set of partnership tours.
These tours run on selected dates (see Book King and Country tour) starting on Angel Hill, opposite the Abbey Gate (what3words///doubt.display.trail). King and Country tours start on Angel Hill at 2pm. They last 90 minutes, are in English and are suitable for all ages and abilities. Please let us know beforehand if you have any special access requirements. We regret that we cannot accept dogs (apart from assistance dogs) on our tours.
Adults £10.00, U-18s £5, U-5s free. U-18s must be accompanied by an adult.
Tickets may be booked online in advance, or you can pay the guide on the day (subject to available space). Your guide will be waiting on Angel Hill wearing a green Bury Tour Guides top.
We look forward to welcoming you!
